Project Description
Vanquish Mill is an iconic redevelopment project transforming a former Edwardian garment factory into a modern residential hub. Birkbeck Structures was contracted to deliver the steel framework for this impressive eight-storey structure, housing 171 high-quality apartments. The development includes a range of studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, alongside a prestigious three-bedroom penthouse.
The building's design focuses on offering state-of-the-art amenities, such as relaxing treatment rooms, a 24/7 gym, a private dining room for hire, and a scenic rooftop garden. Ideally situated in the vibrant Leicester City Centre, Hylyfe offers residents unparalleled convenience, with John Lewis, Highcross Shopping Centre, and Sainsbury's all within immediate reach.
Our Role in the Project
For this project, we deployed our hybrid steel frame system, a combination of traditional hot-rolled steel and light gauge steel framing. This innovative approach maximised efficiency and flexibility throughout the construction process. The structure also incorporated steel decking and concrete floors, providing durable and adaptable solutions to meet the project's architectural and functional requirements.
A standout feature of this method was the integration of partitions and external walls during the structural frame installation. This strategic approach allowed subsequent trades to commence work immediately after each floor or phase was completed, significantly accelerating the construction timeline.

The result we aim to achieve is a visually striking residential development that seamlessly blends historic charm with modern living standards. Through an efficient and precise construction process managed by Birkbeck Structures’ expert team, Vanquish Mill has been transformed into a vibrant and sophisticated living space.
