Commerical Case Study
Gladstone Parade,
Build to Rent
Location: Edgware Road, Cricklewood
Client: UPG
Project Value: £1.8M
On Site Programme: 18 Weeks
Project Description: This new apartment building integrates 6 storeys of apartments with commercial units and carparking at ground floor level.
Birkbeck Structures was involved with the production of the steel framework for this building, implementing a hybrid solution that catered to the requirements of the different levels.
The ground floor was constructed from a traditional steel frame allowing an open plan layout to suit the retail units and carpark as well as acting as a transfer deck to the upper structure; this included long span trusses to allow carpark access.
Levels 1 to 6 were constructed utilising our flexible integrated steel frame concept, formed from a combination of light gauge steel frame and traditional hot rolled steel, steel deck and concrete floors with integrated balconies. This form of construction introduces many of partition and external walls during structural frame installation, allowing for following trades to commence immediately after the erection of each phase/floor.
In addition, a masonry facia was supported from level 1, which allowed the finished building to be aesthetically consistent with other buildings in the locale.
